FreeRadioCast is a dubious browser toolbar that supposedly allows users to listen to radio stations and search the Internet - 'Search from anywhere on the web! Listen to streaming radio from your browser. No Registration required. Unlimited access.' By giving these fake promises, developers often trick users into believing that FreeRadioCast is a legitimate application. In fact, FreeRadioCast often infiltrates systems without users’ permission, hijacks web browsers and modifies their settings. Furthermore, FreeRadioCast gathers information relating to users' Internet browsing habits. For these reasons, this toolbar is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and a browser hijacker.

Once infiltrated, FreeRadioCast modifies the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox default search engine, homepage, and new tab URL browser settings by assigning them to home.tb.ask.com. Users are unable to roll back these changes, since FreeRadioCast automatically reassigns settings whenever attempts are made to change them. Continual redirects to home.tb.ask.com without users' consent significantly diminish the Internet browsing experience. Furthermore, FreeRadioCast continually gathers information relating to Internet browsing activity including IP addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, and search queries - these are just some examples of data types gathered by this PUP. Bear in mind that this collected data is shared with third parties and can be misused to generate revenue, thus causing serious privacy issues. Therefore, you should uninstall FreeRadioCast toolbar immediately.

There are many rogue browser toolbars identical to FreeRadioCast. Examples include PDFConverterHQ, TranslationBuddy, and GameOn. Although these toolbars offer different functionality, they have identical behavior. All are designed to generate revenue for the developers - rather than providing any real value for users, they simply cause unwanted browser redirects (thereby generating traffic for certain websites) and collect personally identifiable information (which is later sold to third parties).

How did FreeRadioCast install on my computer?

Research shows that although FreeRadioCast has official download website, many users install this app inadvertently, since they do not express enough caution during the download and installation processes. Aware of this, developers employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular software/apps. Developers hide PUPs such as FreeRadioCast within the 'Custom/Advanced' download or installation settings. Therefore, users who skip this section, often install rogue programs inadvertently.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

The key to computer is safety. Never rush the download or installation processes. Use the 'Custom/Advanced' settings - look for any third party programs and cancel them. Bundled software is mostly dubious and, thus, should never be installed.
